Rally van Haspengouw
22th and 23rd February 2019
Kris Princen (VW Polo GTI R5) won the Rally van Haspengouw thi Saturday, opening round of the Jobfixers Belgian Rally Championship. At the end, Kris Princen had 17"6 benefit on the driver of the same brand, Cédric Cherain (VW Polo GTI R5). The 2018 champion started the race with three scratch times for what believe his home rally. After the first section, he had a little benefit on Cédric Cherain. After that this loose twenty seconds in the afternoon, and that Vincent Verschueren (Skoda Fabia R5) was at two times a victim of a puncture, the road to a fifth victory at the Haspengouw was free.
After the Polos, Vincent Verschueren was favorit for the bronze medal, but by losing time on two times, including SS11 (two punctures!), the GoDrive driver must do with a 5th place. All profit was for Sébastien Bedoret (Skoda Fabia R5) who offers him a first podium this season, completing the race at 59"8 of Princen. Ghislain de Mévius (Skoda Fabia R5) took advantage of the last minut problems of Vincent Verschueren to take the 4th place, at 1'36"1.
After the unavoidable tenants of the top 5, the fight did also rage, Gunther Monnens (Skoda Fabia R5) keeping 2"3 good on Bastien Rouard (Skoda Fabia R5) who convinced. Jonas Langenakens (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X) relayed finally Mathias Boon (Subaru, mechanical problems) at the 8th place, before the other R5's of Niels Reynvoet (Skoda Fabia R5) and Christophe Verstaen (Ford Fiesta R5), who completed the top 10.

The opening round of the Pirelli Junior Belgian Rally Championship didn't bring surprises. Under the sun of Landen, any driver couldn't worry the defending champion, Grégoire Munster, who will defend hs title with the support of Opel Belgium. During this first section of the Rally van Haspengouw, on of the main rivals of Grégoire Munster was already eliminated. Indeed, in the stage of Heers, Tobias Brüls went out of the way at the landing of the jump, performing multiple rolls with his Peugeot 208 R2.
The 2nd final place didn't come back to Valentin Vertommen (Ford Fiesta R5), yet author of a good rally start with a second time in the inaugural stage, but to Thibaud Mazuin, more and more comfortable on his new Peugeot 208 R2.
